Piecing together my Graphic novel.

As i have now completed colouring in my panels for my graphic novel all what is left for me to do is to piece it together in the IPhone template in Iweb. Each page links to each other so the graphic runs panel to panel as i want the viewer to see the comic. What i have done is linked the last page to the credits so that one there they can see who made it and then use the button on that screen to return to main menu.

I had many a few adjustments to the layout of the panels to make the story flow better than it did. I noticed that it needed changes as i got a couple of other students to read the graphic novel to see if they understand what is happening and if they liked it. Changing a couple of panels around was the only issue raised and once done they enjoyed what was seen.

As I have ran out of time there are some changes i would like to have made but can't. The main changes would of been adding more panels focusing on the details of whats happening in the graphic novel. Like zooming into the feet while the character is running away to show speed. I would have liked to also do a good shot of the woodland wildness to show new and different plants and trees. As i had to change the fight scene to a run away scene i thought that if i had more time i would of made both so that you could choose what you would do with different results.

If i was going to carry this on i would make a chapter by chapter graphic novel on the Apple App store that you could by once and then get updates every month for the next part of the story. This means that they can get into the story and want more. With free chapters i wont upset anyone or make people feel cheated for making they by more than what they are getting. Also i could made other novels that tie into that story form other sides like the Transformers Graphic novel on the App Store.

Changes

While colouring in the panels i made some changes with what happens as the small fight scene between the creature and the hunter wasn't long nor indetail enough to understand. I was going to add more to the fight scene in which would help explain what was happening and how it would happen but due to lack of time in finishing the project there wasn't enough time to complete colouring in them and doe more images in detail. What i had to do was to complete the story without changing the ending but i figured that as he is begin chased to the same location maybe he could try to lose the creature by jumping down the next area rather than falling after fighting. This also allowed me to change some poses and angles to help express time change and more different colours when the hunter gets out of the woodland.

These are my new panels that were not in the in the story board:

Colouring my graphic novel

I have been focused on digitally painting my graphic novel. Using the story board images as a base i made some improvements and some changes to the images in which then i coloured. The colour theme i went for was a dark black and green style as i wanted to show that the character is in thick woodland and that not a lot of light can break though the trees. But to be enough light to see the character, what i did was make the first panel light as if it was then beginning to be sun set allowing medium light to peer through but its darker than it was during the way. Also i thought that i could then use this to show change in time as in later panels you could see the sky clearer and i could show that the sun is almost set.

Panel 1:

this is my first panel in which i am showing the sun setting but its still a lot of light coming into the scene.

Menu's

I created my menu out of my main character concept with a eye design i am using for one of the panels to help show who the graphic novel is about and what there might be within the story. I kept it with the colour theme, I tried to keep the buttons and large and easy to see. As the screen is small so the active area to tap the button needs to be reasonable. Also they music be clear and easy to see and read. What i have done is placed the iphone on the side so you get a wider screen for the images more like a watching a small tv. I have also created links with the buttons to the beginning of the graphic novel, the Chapters page and credits.

These are my menu screens in which i did have a few issues in which i had to sort out. The first being i had no way of returning from the credits and chapters pages. This meant that if viewed i had no way to get back to see any of the graphic novel or other screens. This is a large problem because it would it means its 'broken' in most people eyes. What i did to over come this was add a button to the screens so that you can return back to the main menu.

The other issue was that i hadn't created the return to Iphone main screen. The front button on the Iphone always returns the user to the mainscreen from any application. I added this to my Iphone so that works more realistic.

Designing my graphic novel

Because i am creating my graphic novel for the Iphone and other apple and mobile applicants i need to show my novel working in that hardware. As we do not have the software to create a real App to show and create my graphic novel i am showing my graphic novel in a alteritive style by displaying the layout in Iweb. The idea is that i can create the imagery and some interaction of the Iphone on the software so that the graphic novel displays like it would be on a Iphone. There is a limit of what i can do on Iweb to what i would be able to do on a Iphone but i will explain what will work and how they should work on a Iphone.

I would like it i can make it appear as if it is a working Iphone with buttons doing the same as they would.

What i have done for the first page is created a Iphone with a Icon for my graphic novel just like it would be like on a Iphone. I did this so that you can see how it would appear after downloading and how to access the graphic novel. It makes it appear more like a Iphone rather than a Iweb document.

What i have done on Iweb is created the App icon as a link so that when clicked it would be the same as a tap and link to the page that beings the graphic novel application. What i am doing for the next page is making a title screen so people can choose what chapter they want to read so if i was to the whole novel they would be able to view them. They can begin the novel from the start and they can tap to click the credits. This means theres more to do and more pratical for a application.

Finished Storyboard

I finished my storyboard with minor changes. What i have done is laid out the storyboard in a better layout with details of what is happening in the scene. I have added some extra details if i was to have time to make sound effects or animate some of the panels. Again it reads like before with the hunter scrolling through a thick woodland that ends with him being hunted by a creature. Then after a fight he tumbles down and lands in a old room with lots of technology in it.

IPad

The IPad 2 was released not long ago which expand on the power and size of the IPhone, it has all the same interactive abilities with larger and better specifications.

With 3g and Wifi Ipad like the Iphone can access the internet anywhere easily allowing for instant updates, downloads and information. Bluetooth is also a feature which means that device to device gaming and data share is available. Almost triple the size screen as the Iphone with its 9.7inch display. This has a 132ppi which displays at 1024x768. Perfect quality images can be displayed on screen increasing the detail of work that can be displayed clearly. Multi language display so a graphic novel could fit for all cultural audiences. 720P HD recording camera allows for picture interaction with a smaller front camera. Large 10 hour battery life. Mircophone and speakers to record and play sound, also allowing for different interaction types. Accelerometer that allows motion control of apps and games. This gives so many new ways of interaction and could bring joy and play into a graphic novel.

Again the IPad has access to the App Store and Itunes for downloads, my graphic novel could be downloaded into both deviced if placed onto the App Store. This means more people can download and view what i have made. Access to the internet also means i can place it on the web to be downloaded. With the size difference the Graphic novel could be displayed panel by panel or normally.

The main part of apple is the network in which i place my graphic novel. As i am looking at handheld devices to quick and easy to get and read placing it on the App store would allow most Apple products to download the app. As well it would also mean i could place updates. An issue with this is that if i was to charge for my graphic novel Apple would get some of the profit made for using there store.
